Joy among the mess + a special announcement

Uncategorized

My life gets messy.  If you’ve been getting my weekly missive for a while, you already know this.

Parenting is not for sissies.

Neither is being in business.

Neither is living inside my own crazy head.

I try to show you the truth about my life, the messes and also the glory.

Because here’s the thing– even though I can be thwarted by printers and dishwashers and ants, and my skin breaks out and I have trouble getting places on time– even though that’s all true, my life is also full of joy.

So much joy I can’t even believe it sometimes.

The other day I was bombing along the coast in my shiny red car, the windows down and Vampire Weekend blaring.  Three women I adore were in the car with me, and as I swooped around the curves and cliffs, I felt my soul rise up and spill over with the pure glorious bliss of that moment.

Look.  My car is ten years old, and I need a pedicure and a month of workouts, and we weren’t driving anywhere particularly glamorous– but I couldn’t have been happier if I’d been in a limo on my way to the Oscars wearing a Rouland Mouret.

Somewhere along the way, I figured out how to squeeze joy from the simple moments of my life.  Even when it’s messy and frustrating, my own life is utterly delectable to me now.  It sits on my tongue like a fine wine.

And because I spent so many years being really, really unhappy, I don’t take this for granted.

So I’m so ridiculously honored to be teaching The Joy Diet With Sauce (a class based on the book by Dr. Martha Beck) with my good pal Amy Pearson as part of the  2013 Martha Beck Master Coach Series.

I can’t wait to help other people figure out how to seize the joy in their own lives, too.

We’re kicking it off with a free 10 day video series. Each day we’re sharing a behind-the-scenes look at how we practice The Joy Diet in our own lives.  Yes, even when the kids are sick, we’re feeling anxious, and the to-do list gets out of control.

Today we’re on Day 4, Creativity.  Click *here* for all the videos (I’m in a big Audrey Hepburn hat today).

If you like the videos, be sure to sign up for our free call on August 26th–  we’ll be sharing some of our favorite secrets to living joyfully no matter what life throws your way.  Amy will be talking about taking risks, and I’ll be talking about approaching life like a big gorgeous feast.

It’s going to be yummy.

Just 7 minutes, because you're absurdly busy. 7 minutes to clear your mind and refresh your spirit. 7 minutes to thank your fierce tender holy sacred tired body. 7 minutes that'll leave you centered, grounded, & clear-- like the epic fucking badass you are.

Hello

I write things for women with big, gorgeous, COMPLICATED lives. I help women become epic fucking badasses… but I still retain my right to cry at every diaper commercial ever made.
