A couple of months ago, at the Martha Beck Coaches Summit, I had the pleasure of giving a short TED-style talk. I talked about how I used to be terrified to stand on stage, but ended up with a career that had me doing just that. I shared how to turn your fear into FUEL– it doesn’t go away, but you can use it to power a memorable, charismatic presence, whether you’re talking to your board members, clients, or a packed theater.
For those of you who don’t know, a TED-style talk is a talk that’s delivered without notes and without or with minimal presentation slides. They are personal about a topic the speaker is knowledgeable about and feels passionate about. Amongst other things, TED-style talks are simple and concise and take the listeners on a journey. They are so effective, but can be incredibly difficult to deliver if you struggle with public speaking. That’s why I am here to help.
This is a tiny version of a comprehensive class I gave called “Stage Fright To Spotlight: turn your fear into FUEL”.
I hope you found this useful. You might still want some further help with public speaking, in which case there are classes you can take to really boost your confidence. Visit website to find out about classes in your area. So go on– let your heart hammer away, let your palms sweat, and do something that scares you. You’ll be radiant.
